Frequently asked questions

I forgot my PIN. How do I recover my data?
You can't. The PIN derives the encryption key for your vault. There is no recovery email or master password — that's the point of the offline design. If you've made a .mcd backup, you can restore from that (it has its own password). Otherwise you'll need to reset the app and start over.
Can I share my vault between two iPhones?
Yes — Settings → Export Vault on the first device, AirDrop the .mcd file to the second, Settings → Import Vault on the second. Both devices keep independent copies after that.
What is the decoy / hidden items feature?
A second passcode that reveals items you've moved to the decoy bucket. By default those items are hidden from every list. They auto-hide again the moment the app backgrounds. Useful for items you want to keep separate from casual phone access.
Why doesn't the card scanner pick up my card?
Make sure the card fills most of the on-screen frame, the lighting is even (no glare on the embossed digits), and you're holding the phone in portrait with the card landscape. Continuous scanning needs ~1 second of stillness.
What happens to my data when iOS updates?
Your vault survives iOS and app updates — CoreData migrates schema changes automatically, your Keychain entries persist. Your data does not migrate to a new device when you restore from iCloud backup; we use device-only Keychain accessibility on purpose. Use Export Vault to move between devices.
Is this open source?
Not currently. We may publish parts in future. The cryptography is Apple's standard CryptoKit, not anything custom.

Settings → Erase all vault data — wipes every card, document and password from the device. Two-step confirmation. There is no recovery once you confirm.
